This is an easy crochet baby blanket pattern.
A beginner crocheter would do well because the sides come out even and does not require a border.
Even though it is featured here as a baby blanket, it would also make a nice adult-sized blanket. It works up fairly quickly and is an easy and interesting pattern to work.
The combination of the stitches makes a dense, warm fabric.
The pattern is reversible meaning that it shows on both sides. You could make it in a solid color, but color striping yarn makes it more interesting.
I choose the Mandala yarn because it is light and easy to work with. And as you can see, beautiful. I got the color pop that I wanted without having to weave in a ton of ends at the end of my work.
Mandela yarn is really good for baby blankets because it is soft, machine washable and dryable, and light in weight. Some mothers are afraid that heavy baby blankets could harm their babies.

Working across the rows in both direction
Row 1: Chain 157. Make your chains very loose. You can even use a larger needle to ensure that the chains are loose.
Row 2: In the 2nd chain from the hook 1 sc, then 2dc, in same stitch. In every other chain across work 1 sc, then 2dc. End with 1 sc into the last stitch.
Row 3: Ch 1. Turn. *1 sc, then 2dc in sc from previous row* repeat across. End with 1 sc into last sc.
Repeat this last row 174 times or until your desired length.
The sides are beautifully straight. Finish the 2 short ends with a few rows of single crochet.
